Widnes Skip & Reclaim are proud of our recycling and recovery rates. Less than 20% of all waste collected and recieved is disposed of to landfill sites. We are continually improving our processes and researching alternative outlets for waste we receive.
Duty of Care regulations require you to ensure your waste is managed properly and recovered or disposed of safely. Widnes Skip & Reclaim are registered with the Environment Agency as Waste Carriers and hold a Waste Management Licence which allows us to accept many non-hazardous solid waste streams.
What happens to your waste?
- Waste is tipped into the reception area where it is sorted with a 360 excavator fitted with a grab attachment.
- Smaller items are loaded into a trommel screener to seperate soils and fines.
- Waste is then passed onto the picking line where wood, plastic, card, metals, green waste and rubble are seperated.
- Waste wood is recycled and used to make chipboard etc, card and plastics are baled and sent for recycling, green waste is composted and brick/concrete is crushed and re-used in the construction industry.
Copies of our Carriers Licence and Waste Management Licence are available on request. Site visits to help you comply with your Duty of Care can also be arranged by appointment.
